ANALYZING
PROTECTIONS:
There are many different
tools to help you identify what copy protection your game is protected.
Below is a list of programs and what protections they can detect:
- ClonyXXL*
(german)
ClonyXXL scans on CDs (and in case you activate that option, also in
the directory where a game is installed to check whether it is SecuROM
protected or not.
- SecuromID
by CirKutz
SecuromID lets you choose a file to check for the SecuROM version. If
it's not SecuROM protected, it will let you know. Be sure to download
Securom ID v2
- Safedisc
Analyzer by dec0de12
...basically the same as SecuromID, just asks for an .icd file if no
copy protection is found. If there's no .icd file, there's no SafeDisc
protection (Note: Safedisc2 has no icd file).
- SafeDisc/SecuROM
Version Detector by yAtEs
...used the same way as the above two tools, it checks for the exact
version of SafeDisc OR SecuROM, but by default only lets you display
.exe or .dll files. To display all file types, you'll have to type *.*
in the filename area and press Enter.
We've also compiled
a list of games, and their associated protection (including version).
You can find this list here.
